Mitch Landrieu is walking on a red carpet because some of us, have been working day and night to tame the national media. Many La. officials aka Jindal, Vitter, Nagin and Jim Lattan are not camera ready people and through these officials, the people of Louisiana state were getting slammed. They figured that if our officials appeared awkward, slow or even dull that this was a means to stereotype everyone who lived in this state. It has taken years to undo P.R. damage but the HBO show Treme-David Simon, Levees.Org, James Carville, Mary Matalin, General Honore, John Goodman and of course the ultimate media attack dog......Creole Folks, have now handed over a clean media slate to Mitch Landrieu.
Mitch Landrieu, is inheriting a budget crisis for the simple fact that city officials discouraged any sane business owner from doing business in Nawlins. The citizens of this city, basically paid tax dollars only to have City Hall, the D.A.'s office & the City Council Members, to go out & carry on in the most embarrassing and childish acts possible. While I once was going to based my entertainment management firm in New Orleans because I figure that the city could use the tax money, I changed my mind after seeing the outlandish displays of stupidity from ALL these City Officials & I opted to stay based out of Hollywood, Ca. being that my job can be done from anywhere in the world.
In many industries you can work out of a city but be based in another city. Kinda like B.P. exploits Louisiana but Great Britain gets the bulk of pay outs from this company. State Republicans have literally drove small business owners out of business or out of state because Republicans are fee and fine happy.
Local Photographers in Louisiana state can set up shop in the city and make over $100,000.00 per year, due to the booming entertainment industry, but one can not just set up shop in La. state like you can in California because La. politicians keep loading all of these fees, licenses and more fees discouraging business development within this state. This has resulted in production companies bringing in out of state photographers to meet the needs of production. The people who are in charge of the Film Commissions aren't trained Hollywood people but simply in place because they knew someone. Producers are coming in La. because of many tax breaks done under former Gov. Blanco (a Democrat) but mostly due to a major push in Los Angeles producing circles. They aren't influenced one way or another by the state's Film Commission and half the time the data on the websites aren't updated properly.
Right now in La. state, SBA loans and other loans that could be going to small business owners continue to go to these huge companies, which the state of La. allows to knowing lie on paperwork. La. has a very bad structural corruption issue that is the fault of the current Governor. These are all things that a small business owner has to take into consideration before coming into this state and really has nothing to do with the city of New Orleans,La but New Orleans takes the blame for state-wide corruption, in the media.
We still have this open secret of organized crime in New Orleans which stops many people from opening up businesses in the area. The French Quarter is a perfect example because those guys get shook down, every month. If you have something to contribute to the city, you have to cut through a bunch of red tape and corruption within the organized crime business community hybrid government in this state.
The New Orleans City Council and City Hall looked so out of control, in the last few years, that no business owner would have seriously considered basing themselves out of New Orleans, La. Hopefully with Landrieu, that will change. There's alot of new blood pouring into office but there remains alot of old blood, and sooner or later they will become a headache.
So far so good with Mitch. I like the fact that Sandy Rosenthal(Levees.Org) is in his cabinet. I like the fact that we have an allegedly independent NOPD monitor, but she is from Tulane University, so most of those contracts are pre-arranged with the city. Plus, this monitor, is from Pasadena, Ca. Being that I am very familiar with Pasadena, Ca. .........this is the only thing that isn't passing the "smell test."
I know that this NOPD monitor is already under qualified but I'm giving it a chance but taking someone from Pasadena, Ca. to over see anything in Nawlins is a joke. I mean they may as well have gone and gotten someone from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I just do not think that over seeing the NOPD is a job for some girl from Pasadena, who is coming from Tulane. The city is already too female heavy, in every aspect of everything and very few of these people are dynamic and good at their jobs. In fact, many of these people are down right dumb, not saying any names......... but "Non-Descript Susan" from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, still doesn't know the geographical difference between Westwego and Harvey!
The reason why we do not know the names of these garden variety women, who are holding some very high positions, is due to the fact that they do absolutely nothing. During some of the worse times in NOLA, we had Washington and Stacy Head in a long drawn out cat fight over some emails-and the two women from the D.A.'s office were always on t.v. making the city look like a mess. Under Mayor Ray Nagin, I do not recall anyone doing any work in New Orleans.
I am over the interplay between Tulane University and city officials. There are other qualified people, that can fill certain positions so this love affair with these Tulane tokens, will not go unnoticed. If these Tulane appointments make one misstep, that will be considered corruption. There is some "good ole boy" agreement with Tulane and New Orleans-which is what we are trying to leave behind in this city. We are tired of the back room dealings.
Mitch Landrieu's short list for top cops to replace Warren R. are very impressive. Mitch Landrieu's knowledge is phenomenal. This man really is accessible, in a way that Ray Nagin never was. Ray Nagin was the most "hiding out" Mayor that I have ever seen in this city.
There were alot of city officials, that were simply lazy & willfully neglecting their duties because Ray Nagin was always the scapegoat but now with a fresh and dynamic Mayor like Landrieu, these officials simply can't sit back because the token target is no longer in office. I wonder why it took so long to get around to dealing with corrupt developers and the Danziger Bridge case.
I think in the next few years, that Jefferson parish will now be the problem child and Mitch's success depends alot on making a clear distinction between being an all inclusive, equal opportunity Orleans Parish vs a corrupt system of "good ole boys" in Jefferson Parish.
Orleans should be modeled more after St.Bernard and Mitch is clearly bringing back a sense of pride and community.
I am impressed with Mitch Landrieu because he is a very smart man, and the more he talks the smarter he sounds. During Ray Nagin's first term, he really did lay out revitalization of New Orleans but evidently he fell under the influence of Bush because Nagin was more worried about his business relationships in the private sector than being Mayor and even as he packs his shit at City Hall, he lacks reflection, sensibilities and insight on how he and others in this state came up with the most obviously corrupt policies, that any city has ever known in recent decades.
I just advise Mitch to Keep it Simple. Keep it honest. Keep it Real. I would warn about corruption in the NOPD, City Contracts and the NOLA Chamber of Commerce.
O.K. When we pushed a very pro-gang and pro-illegal alien Mexican Mayor, in Los Angeles, to stop the high number of hate crimes targeting blacks by latino gangs and illegal aliens, Al Sharpton was no where to be found! I was out in L.A. blogging on-line at Fox L.A. during this entire episode and not once did Al Sharpton speak out or offer any help to the victims of crimes by illegal aliens! How typical, redundant and hypocritical that he would be in Arizona using the "race" card for the "non race" in favor of illegal aliens who have a track record of killing Americans in that state!
I never saw Al Sharpton organizing any marches for Jamiel Shaw. I never saw him at any meetings or speaking at any Church. In fact, anyone who was for Jamiel's Law was also labeled a racist and a xenophobe. This is their pattern and the incompetent media has done a pathetic job on delivering facts. In fact, the media flat out lies and hides the truth about almost everything these days!
Many of the people displaced by the flooding of New Orleans(Aug 2005), due to the U.S. Army Corp (Katrina) were also victims of crimes and racist intimidation from latino gangs and illegal alien gangs if they ended up in California state; once again I was writing about this but THERE WAS NO AL SHARPTON in sight!
Now I don't know if his gold digging whore, Lisa Raye, is taking his brain cells along with his non-profit cash but for Al Sharpton to now be saying that illegal aliens do the jobs that African Americans do not want, reaches the height of corporate and media corruption. May I present Mr. Sharpton with about 100 out of work black males, who can not get hired on at contracting companies, factories or construction companies because illegal aliens have taken the jobs that BLACK MEN WILL GLADLY DO!
Al Sharpton has an approval rating, among Black Americans, which stands at only 30%! And the 30% of Blacks that do approve of Al Sharpton are the same 30% that make up the Black unemployment rate in America! Let them figure it out!
Black Americans, have realized that simply having symbolic leadership, hasn't led to any progress or solutions for their communities. Al Sharpton is well aware that he doesn't speak for ALL or even the majority of Black America.
No one speaks for Black America and blacks have begun to wake up from this media haze and break free from these media appointed ambassadors to the community. Latinos are going to have to also learn the hard way and stop letting a few nut jobs claim a monopoly on Latino voices, which is not a race but a heritage that contains every race under the Sun.

The Media (national or local) didn't give the family of Jamiel Shaw any help because the media covers up for crimes committed by illegal aliens. The Jamiel Shaw tragedy was one out of many cases involving American citizens dying at the hands of illegal aliens and in each case it has been the citizens organizing and pressuring the state/local government to address the specific needs in the area, which the citizens live. If we wait for the media and Washington D.C. to approve, expose and take actions against these daily threats of violence from immigrant gangs, then we simply would have no safety standards in this country.
Just to get this land called America, to be half way decent, there are alot of Americans behind the scenes keeping this country running in a some what decent manner, because the Federal Government and State Governments do not do anything but spend money. Americans are under the illusion that the U.S. Government has common sense and naturally acts in our best interest.
The reason why illegal aliens and gangs aren't flowing in through California state, as heavily as before, is due to the work of many Americans, who predicted these problems and pushed for solutions under the Bush Administration. Ca. state is now simply retaining their current illegal alien population, which has leveled off and once the smoke cleared, the state was not only bankrupt but home to about 2,000 different factions of the Mexican Mafia! The Government had nothing to do with this solution but instead it was the work of American citizens.

Update: After Obama was insistent that the Federal Government would not conduct any investigations until after B.P. conducted their own investigation into themselves AKA "Clean up their mess and fake reports." The Obama Administration has suddenly had a change of heart and have signed paper work to begin an investigation, which I am sure will be more talking points for British Petroleum. None the less, he is acting, although the actions are mostly cosmetic, when just a few days ago, he planned no immediate investigation into B.P.
I bet that Barrack Hussein Obama-Hitler doesn’t come and give any Eulogy at ANY funeral honoring the 11 BP oil workers that were either left out in the Gulf of Mexico to die or blew up.No one really knows what happened because the U.S. Coast Guard didn’t search for more than 60 hours but instead gave press conferences covering for British Petroleum.
Obama was elected the President of America but he appears to think, along with Democrats that they are funded and elected by the country of Mexico!
11 Americans were still missing in the Gulf of Mexico and all Obama and the White House wanted to talk about was those stupid illegal alien criminals in Arizona and how American tax payer money will be used to protect them and the fact that the B.P. explosion would not stop him from opening up the Atlantic Coast for more drilling. The White House didn't even give any sincere words of comfort to the families of the 11 still missing, last week, or any words of encouragement. Obama then left and went on a vacation! A president is supposed to say, after 11 Americans still were not found, "This is an unfortunately accident and I can ensure the families that we are doing everything in our power to find these men and bring them home safely. We will uncover every piece of debris and throughly search via planes, boats and drones to bring closure to the families of the missing British Petroleum workers!"
(paraphrasing) Instead, we heard from Obama, "The state of Arizona is misguided and my justice department will be looking at this new anti-illegal alien criminal law, to try and take it down."
While the majority of families are tired of the explosions, unnecessary accidents and lack of Government regulations at companies in lower La. and off shore, the media can always find ONE idiot, which will foolishly say that this investigation and rescue mission was flawless! If it was flawless than we would either have 11 bodies or 11 rescued men being brought back to Louisiana and Mississippi State.
Out of all the families who are completely devastated and demanding answerers the U.S. Coast Guard found ONE puppet to say that the U.S. Coast Guard did all they can in that ridiculous, insulting and absurd 60 hours half ass search mission, out in the Gulf of Mexico.

I worked for Time Warner, on and off, for about 10 years and I know the tricks of the media trade. This blog was syndicated by Time Warner at one time but then when I joined the New Orleans Non-Profit Citizens Activist Group, Levees.Org and joined Americans for LEGAL immigration & spoke out against Time Warner's biased against Louisiana, they banned me but the truth is always more important than being assimilated into the "Lame Stream" Media. Time magazine just did an article slamming the New Orleans based show "Treme" and of course Time Magazine is owned by Time Warner.

4) I was supposed to sell how great it was that New Orleans closed so many schools, even ones dating back to the late 1800's and push this "Charter School" mess but they got Roland Martin (now on TV One) to say this anti-New Orleans junk!

Funny how the U.S. Media is not addressing the fact that an Arizona Rancher, who had been working land owned by his family for over 100 years was killed a couple of weeks back by an illegal alien. No one says how the poor Americans in Arizona see a steady stream of illegal aliens, walking with weapons, crossing through their front lawns. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and amnesty groups, only want Americans to focus on a Bill and say it racially profiles hispanics? Well, I look latino, and I don't see anything wrong with the Bill. I am partially Hispanic and I don't see anything wrong with the Arizona Bill plus, if Hispanic is not a "race" but considered a heritage, how can it be racial profiling?
Every American just filled out the U.S. Census. Hispanic/Latino is not a race. I checked off Latino and wrote in Louisiana Creole, so how is it that the Federal Gov. is whining about the "LATINO RACE?" So, Latinos are only a "race" when they need to push a political amnesty agenda but any other time they are checking off the "white" slot. Hmmmmmm.
If I could have checked off black or Native American and wrote in "creole" I would have done so but being that "black" is a race and "latino" is a non-race, I had to check off "latino." Living outside the borders of Louisiana state, I am considered a "Latino." In New York, Florida, California, Texas, Nevada and Arizona all of a sudden I go from being a Louisiana Creole to being called a "Latino" and I STILL think that the Arizona Bill-SB 1070 is MORE THAN JUSTIFIED.
There is no such race as "latino." Now if they want to talk about all of those Mexican Nationals, and get upset about the Mexicans, that is a different argument all together. The fact is ANYONE with olive tone skin is considered a "Latino" on sight, even though they can range from white skinned to black skinned-therefore Latino IS NOT A RACE AND CANT ARGUE RACIAL PROFILING!
Arizona's SB 1070 was a long time coming for those folks who are victims of crimes, at the hands of the corrupt Mexican Government which sends Mexicans to Arizona and exports their crime out of Mexico into the U.S. Everyone knows that the Mexican Government are giving these people maps, tracking systems and weapons but the U.S. Federal Government doesn't hold Mexico responsible when an American Rancher is murdered on his own land but only gets upset if a member of the U.S. Government is killed. While schools are being closed in the U.S., the Obama Regime has given another 500 million to the building of prisons! Education is not a privilege for citizens but a way to stop your entire country from being run by fools and idiots but then again, being a nation of dummies appears to be the only thing that keeps these people in power.
Judge Mathis, from Detroit, Michigan said what many knowledgeable people were thinking, which is that it simply makes no dam sense to pay $90,000.00 per year to lock ONE inmate up when you can take $30,000.00 and fund an entire four year college degree! This is exactly why the U.S. is now owned by China and Iran is bailing out the rural Hospitals or having to build them for the U.S.
Judge Mathis directly called out Obama on his platform which appears to have more than enough money to fund the Prison Industrial Complex but not schools in Detroit, Ohio, Missouri and other major U.S. cities.

"workers" card saying it will solve the illegal alien problem but Americans have to also have this card, if Obama has his way! So, in essence we are now being reduced to the same level as an illegal alien, in our own country. This new "workers" card WILL happen in the next year or two. THIS IS THE NEW AMERICA, WHICH WE NOW LIVE. Right after the Arizona ruling to help alleviate their pathetic illegal alien crime problem, the Obama Admin along with Democrats and one lone Republican, were very quick to start pushing this "Mark of the Beast" I.D. slave card.
Why can't the Federal Government simply close off that Yuma, Arizona illegal alien channel of crime being that they have more than enough capabilities at building mega enforced prison complexes, if one looks at lower La. and states like Ca.? Because they do not want to stop this flow but instead want to push this National "Workers-Slave" Card onto Americans, which has been neatly hidden in Obama's Amnesty Bill drafted up by Lindsey Graham and Chuck Schumer.
In Louisiana, the state legislature wants to install a database, of citizens, which stores minor/major drug offense charges into the DMV computers for the "cops." Well law enforcement already has the power to run criminal records from their cars; so why give this to the DMV? This will then be downloaded onto a person's drivers license but yet the State of Louisiana can not stop drug drops of Mexican cartels, illegal aliens flowing in from Texas and contractors who are continuing to bring these people into the state.
So, what is next with the Louisiana cracker-jac politicians? That people will also have their medical records and incomes downloaded into the DMV database? That's where they are wanting to take it. Who in the hell wants a ghetto DMV worker or even cops, having that much of information at their disposal?

BP oil (British Petroleum) has murdered oil workers, who have very dangerous jobs , simply due to the Federal Government and states like Louisiana & Texas, never having a backbone to have demanded safety regulations.The 11 missing in the Gulf of Mexico, who were on the BP rig that blew up, saw a quick calling off of the search being conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard, for one simple reason-and that is all due to the Federal and state Governmentbeing in the pockets of Big Oil Murderers and a refusal to ever rein in these people for their crimes against their work force, the communities which they destroy and dance around the evils of Big Oil, so that some corrupt mafia-like people can keep making trillions in profit.BP like Chevron is operating on blood money.
The U.S. Coast Guard did a mere 60 hour search, and some of those guys, are bayou types, and could survive for about a week but the Government and Oil Companies do not want dead bodies because Obama doesn't want to jeopardize his "drill baby drill" plans-and whats leaving 11 Americans out to Sea so that he can maintain his political capital?
The U.S. Coast Guard spent more time holding press conferences, getting their talking points from British Petroleum and running their mouths to the media, than they spent doing a search & recover mission the first day of this tragedy in the Gulf. They did not search for an entire 3 days, because the 3rd day was once again spent spewing out "talking points" for BP! They searched for 60 hours, and that's being very generous on my calculations.
Men from the Gulf Coast area can survive longer than 60 hours in the Gulf of Mexico and there is no hard core evidence to suggest that all of these men were blown-up. Six days is a reasonable search time instead of the insulting 60 hours clocked on rescue efforts by the coast guard! The Gulf of Mexico is a body of warm water and even I, being from lower La. can survive out there for at least 3 days!
The water off the Louisiana coast has become so acidity that there are "dead zones" which have developed over the course of decades from oil drilling, so your not going to find many sharks out there anymore. There are all sorts of areas where a man, from this region, can manage to survive, especially since a toxic dump, like BP, has now either killed or chased away natural marine predators.
First witnesses said that the 11 missing got onto a life raft, that had survival equipment and now some how (in the past 24 hours) they have floated out the narrative that the 11 missing were blown up! They either do not want to take time out from defending BP oil to find these men or they do not want confirmed dead bodies on their hands because it will hurt their Pubic Relations image.
This big oil spill will put more Louisiana fishermen out of work, and of course the illegal alien puppet Gov, Big Oil, LSU and the Federal Government are already covering up for their own incompetence. Some numb-nut from L.S.U. said on national t.v. that there were no oil leaks, well that was simply A LIE! That Oil Rig has been leaking about 42,000 gallons of oil every day!

How would you feel if one these 11 men, missing from BP, was your husband, son, father, cousin, friend and your President was on t.v. talking about how unfair life was for an illegal alien in Arizona and then went on vacation, as LSU and the U.S. Coast Guard put out talking points for British Petroleum? Yes, I am outraged because I know many people from lower La. who have been in that situation time and time again.
The corrupt officials in West Virginia, who clearly allowed a criminal coal mining Tycoon (Massey Energy Comp.) to endanger lives for profits, at least they were out in front of national cameras but the La. officials have hid under neath their desk, except Mary L., and for the most part, BP oil and some retired kook from L.S.U. have been out there lying and covering up the dangers that these companies impose on their loyal & hard working employees.
It is insulting when CNN aka Time Warner, says that this type of thing is rare but yet, I can rattle off at least 20 people(who I personally knew), over the course of 20 years, that have been killed, injured or permanently disfigured through the lack of safety over sight and regulations at these energy,oil,mineral exploration and drilling companies. So, now this week, America “The Stupid” has suffered another embarrassment, by having Iran moving in to provide quality Health Care that we cannot provide for ourselves because the Obama regime gave a welfare check of millions in new suckers, to WellPoint and BlueShield, while allowing a British Oil Company to ignore labor and safety laws.
The country of Iran, is now the sole Health Care Providers for parts of rural Mississippi! They are coming in and providing Health Care because the U.S. simply dose not view rural America, as being worth anything except as a place to expand FEMA funded military installations, away from Flashing lights and cameras.
Those Health Care Clinics popping up in Mississippi state's rural areas aren't American or American funded but instead they are owned and medically staffed by the country of Iran.
After Hurricane Katrina passed through Nawlins and the U.S. Army Corp flooded Nawlins, the bulk of aid came in from the American people, the Middle East, Africa and Venezuela. More foreign aid came from these countries, than every other European country combined! Europe donated blankets to New Orleans!
Obama will not pass a decent Heath Care Bill that doesn't have the I.R.S. looking at my personal life every month starting in 2014 and he will not pass a decent Wall Street Reform Bill because what he is rushing through still keeps in place 'too big to fail' & bailouts! Obama is saying that the Financial Reform Bill makes banks put into a fund but if the fund can not cover the cost when the bank fails, tax payers' money will once again be used to bailout banks! Obama is making this a common practice and a normal practice for the U.S. in protecting some very bad corporations. These Bills are exactly like President Obama and those in Washington D.C........smoke & mirrors.
There were NEVER any Hospitals in lower South East La. to begin with and under these puppet regimes of Jindal and Obama-New Orleans doesn't have a real central Hospital!
America is turning into a huge failure and people are going to have to cut through the media deflections over Arizona law enforcement and learn to understand that the media addresses non-issues, blows them into HUGE issues because they are covering up for their own cowardice in reporting the truth to Americans. When ever you see these artificial panics in the media, there is always something shady going on in Washington D.C., which the media has been instructed to hide from the public via deflection techniques.

It's that time of year again. Across the nation, millions of people are being asked to record basic profile data for the 2010 United States census, including their race.
For most, this is an easy task. Find the racial box that fits and check it. Done.
But the last time I answered that question, which was 10 years ago in the 2000 Census, I was as paralyzed with angst as the undecided voters we reporters converged on as Al Gore and George W. Bush faced off the same year. Just as many of those voters said they couldn't say who they were backing until election day, I had no idea which box -- or boxes -- I'd check until I had census form in hand.
You see, 2000 was the first time in history that the federal government was willing to acknowledge my existence.
My twin sister and I were born in 1967 to an African-American gentile mother and a white Jewish father. We arrived just a few months before the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated laws in some states against interracial marriage.
Uncle Sam could admit that people of different races got married, but it would be more than three decades before he would officially recognize their offspring.
Census forms prior to 2000 forced multiracial individuals to ally themselves with just one parent, and if one of your parents was white, that one was usually ignored.
The origin of that practice dates to slavery. Counting a child with even "one drop" of black blood as blacks swelled the ranks of those forced into bondage.
These days, the "one drop" rule has the opposite effect. The 2010 Census will determine how more than $400 billion in resources is allocated, so it is very much in the black community's interest to claim as many people as it can.
I am absolutely on board with that. After centuries of being shortchanged, I want to see the black community get every advantage it can financially and politically.
And yet...
My race isn't a check-one-box kind of question. It's an essay question, and the answer may be different depending on who's asking and why.
I've been morphing all my life. As a very young child, I identified as white. In my teens and 20s, I considered myself black. In my early 30s, I began another slow evolution to biracial.
Sometimes, my identity changes in the course of a single day. In the 1980s, when I encountered anti-Semites on my college campus, I felt more like an Ashkenazi Jew than a black woman. But when I rallied against South African apartheid later that day, I felt deeply the African blood coursing through my veins.
So I joined hundreds of other multiracial individuals at a Multiracial March on Washington in 1996. We demanded the right to acknowledge both of our parents.
It was a very personal fight for me, because my white father had died three years earlier. Denying him felt wrong.
We won that fight, sort of. Some advocated for a "multiracial" category. We didn't get that, but we got the right to check as many boxes as were applicable.
I was pleased with that. Some weren't.
There are people of good will who would like to see all racial classifications go away. We're all just human, they insist.
But to me, "human" is just code for assimilation. Why don't you quit eating collard greens (or salsa, or egg rolls) and swallow some darn meat and potatoes like all the fine white people who are trying to embrace you?
Well, I happen to like collard greens, thank you very much. I just season them with turkey instead of pork.
So I checked two boxes on the 2000 census. I am a person who is both black and white, and chose to honor my late father by being counted as such.
Many other multiracial individuals made the same choice that year: 4.7 percent of Californians and 2.4 percent of Americans.
But there is not anything close to consensus among multiracial people on how to deal with this. President Barack Obama reportedly checked only black on this year's census. I'd bet money Tiger Woods checked at least three boxes, reflecting his black, white and Asian heritage.
Truthfully, I wasn't certain what I was going to do this year. The economy is so miserable that every penny the black community can get is critical.
I was an angst-ridden undecided voter again, worrying over the ballot box.
But the decision was made for me. I'm a single mom and moved in with my semi-retired mother a couple of years ago to get free child care. My mother filled out this year's census form and mailed it without consulting me.
On Thursday, I whined about it to an old friend in my native Chicago. She, too, is both black and white and marched with me on the National Mall in 1996.
All for naught, I said glumly.
"Well, don't worry about it," she quipped. "You can be white in 10 years and even it out again."
Yeah, I hear Sec. of State, Hillary Clinton and the media always looking to invade a country (with oil & other resources) and using the treatment of women as one of the excuses, when in reality, we know that American Oil Companies dictate who we go to War with.
I am really starting to rethink my stance on thinking that women rights groups were simply whining about issues that they had already over come, in many people's mind. But I am not comfortable with the way that women are being treated in the U.S. I am not amused, one single bit, about the way these thugs are getting special treatment by judges, D.A.'s , media and Cops in America!
I am not comfortable with being a part of a savage, unjust country that is looking like a Banana Republic!

Alot of these trends of violence against women, and having "the system" protect the perpetrators of this violence are due to the environment of the Conservatives on the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Alito, has stripped women of their rights along with others in this country and now we have D.A.'s and heads of law enforcement agencies, simply letting sex offenders against women and children walk right out of court or not even facing charges, in the first place, especially if they are white men (famous or not)!

I am sorry but women, all across the continental U.S., don't have telepathy and can't conspire to accuse this man of rape unless he is a sex predator! We see the state of Georgia, where it appears, no white man, gets convicted EVER!
The D.A. really wants us to believe that a woman in Colorado and a woman in Georgia-both just targeted the Pittsburgh Steelers, Roethlisberger, for rape accusations? Why him? Why multiple women in different states?
We have a Georgia State District Attorney that refused to press charges and the female victim became so scared, in both the Colorado case and Georgia case, that they simply backed out because the prosecutable trend and wave appeared against the women.
The law enforcement agent in the Ben Roethlisberger case was pressured to resign because he WOULDN'T fake a police report, favoring Roethlisberger! Well, I can only advise that officer, to not come work in Louisiana because creative writing of police reports, is what these agencies appear to be best at doing!
In the Ben Roethlisberger case, there was a Pa. State Trooper, "moon lighting" as a "body guard" that blocked the door, in order to prevent the victim from escaping! That poor girl didn't stand a chance in Georgia State.
We have the NFL showing bias and I simply do not see the punishment coming as fast for Roethlisberger as it would for a black player, who would be sitting in jail right now with all of his endorsement deals gone because the "lame stream" media would have made sure to do day & night negative stories on the black or latino athlete.
Charlie Sheen has already gotten off so many time, that he thinks he is Teflon like O.J. Simpson thought he was Teflon and we know what this leads to.

CNN did negative stories day and night on Tiger Woods. In fact, CNN did more stories than any other network, media outlet and print publication! In fact, I woke up this morning and CNN was STILL talking about Tiger Woods! But a man, Sheen, who works at a movie studio, that is owned by the same parent company, Time Warner, didn't get a peep from CNN. All this in spite the fact that Charlie Sheen has progressed from a coke addicted womanizer, a racial slur using maniac into an O.J. Simpson like sociopath that will probably end up killing his wife unless she leaves him!
We have the New Orleans Metro area, employing a serial rapist and someone who traffics in Asian and Russian sex slaves, Steven Seagal, into Louisiana State, and the Sheriff simply says that he will not question him because the victim doesn't want to come back to La. state and make a statement.
Steven Seagal has a home in a remote part of Lafitte , La. where he has everything from smuggled in sex slaves (Russian and Asian) to drugs, and no Federal Agency has raided his home! They are giving him time to clear everything out of the house. This is ridiculous! Why are there a string of women, saying the exact same thing about Steven Seagal, for two decades? Why is he still a deputy in La. state?
Sheriff Normand, hasn't even questioned Seagal because the victim doesn't want to fly back to Louisiana state! Well, maybe the victim knows that people who make statements against deputies usually end up being targeted and killed, which is a practice that has not ended in La. state since I was a teenager and watched the FBI come in and try to clean up law enforcement and they still haven't managed to do it.
In conclusion before the U.S. plays the "we must invade a country because they treat women awful" line on the public, I strongly suggest that we take a look at ourselves in the mirror!

When Obama said that states could "opt out" and make the Health Care a state-by-state issue, David Vitter was the ONLY Republican that spoke out against this and demanded that the Health Care Bill be applied to all states including La.! At least, Landrieu, brought home the funds that Washington D.C. has stolen from La. state after Katrina through frivolous taxation.
David Vitter was the only Republican to get up in the U.S. Senate and speak out against the "opt out" options being offered, at one time, by Obama!
If there was a Senate Race between David Vitter and Council Woman, Stacy Head.......hands down I am voting for Stacy Head!! That is a no brainer, because anyone can do better than Vitter! Vitter didn't even solve the NFL issue because Vitter produces no results, for this state, EVER! Vitter is all talk and all show but no results.

Before all of this filming and Hollywood interest happened in Nawlins, it was U.N.O. that had the best directors, stage productions and training. During the Summer, U.N.O. would always offer extension courses that one could take, and it would keep kids off the streets and give them an education.
U.N.O. has never gotten caught up in partisan politics the way Tulane does. I know when my mother (A Republican and Conservative) met Vitter, she was like "Dam thats a dumb Mo Fo!" So, when the Time Picayunes slanted an article and Head line saying that U.N.O. had dropped Melancon simply due to an email from the Vitter camp, I was like that doesn't even sound like U.N.O.
U.N.O. is the cool campus that is more concerned about education, all people, and not about getting caught up in politics.
New Orleans needs to start a new movement called, "Succeed for the inbreds who defend Vitter!" I don't really like Melancon either for trying to bring in illegal aliens, but Vitter gots to go because he also is guilty of illegal aliens in La. state! David Vitter is simply the worse Senator in the entire Senate and EVERYONE in the nation appears to know this except the "Duh Duh Duh" people in Louisiana.
The media should present facts and not gossip against state Democrats. All Democrats and Republicans are not created equal. Some are really good and some are really incompetent.

So, after the Conference Room was reserved for their meeting, Melancon came about with his "Jambalaya Tour" and no one appeared to know that Melancon would be crashing U.N.O. with his "Jambalaya Tour." So, U.N.O. was already going to cancel the convention because they are about education and unless you're the President of the United States, they do not want to be involved in promoting candidates that are currently campaigning from either camp because they do not want the partisan politics on their campus, like we see at L.S.U. and Tulane.
Vitter is a baby! I am so sick of the whining that comes from the Time Picayunes and Vitter! In fact, the best thing Vitter could do is simply to never talk at all because it is embarrassing!
So, Vitter was whining because Vitter is a baby but U.N.O. had already yanked it. Therefore the Time Picayunes should have not made it seem like U.N.O. was promoting Vitter over Melancon. That is highly inaccurate and bad journalism.
Not being a fan of "The Wire" or any urban show that simply comes across as a stroll through a concrete jungle filled with drug addicted blacks, which was my impression of "The Wire." I am still waiting to see how HBO's Treme will turn out. I simply am not educated enough about the show's writers, being that I haven't found time to dig up their info., and therefore am not able to predict the final image that will forever be painted in the mind's of Americans about Nawlins but it can't be worse than what the media painted during Hurricane Katrina.

There was a funny corrupt deal going on with Hollywood and Louisiana, where people would be discouraged from returning home, so that their homes could be used as one big sound-stage for Hollywood filmings! This was exactly what was going on with that show's producers and these Mickey Mouse politicians in Louisiana. So Treme has done it the right way and the honest way!
I have watched the show five times and really wanted to examine it, before rushing in & running my mouth like so many critics appear to do. I have talked to people from the area and to people that are still displaced. In fact, the show's producers would be very smart to also show story-lines involving the displaced natives, that were stuck in Texas and other parts after Katrina.
New Orleans natives, went from living in tightly knit social groups, that went back as far as the 1800's, to now being ripped from their communities and tossed around like a leaf in the wind.
New Orleans is unlike any other city, when it comes to setting a storyline because you have to dig deep into the roots of this city. This city has deep roots that, until recently, had remained unchanged for hundreds of years! It is a complicated and complex city because, in many cases, the shared culture and gumbo people of mixed-ancestry, provides a continual line of unity between natives, that very few non-natives appear to understand.
New Orleans wasn't built in America; but instead America was built around New Orleans!
(If I had a choice to sit down and talk to anyone in the world over a beer, it would be John Goodman) Treme's most powerful actor, is of course, John Goodman. I grew up on John Goodman being around New Orleans. My mother still swears that he is a Nawlins native because John Goodman appeared to always be in the city. John Goodman represents, the real feelings of not just the people of Nawlins but all of lower Louisiana. Nawlins people are fighters, very strong survivalist & this is what John Goodman represented. As soon as he opened his mouth, I pulled in closer to my t.v. screen. John Goodman basically legitimized the show to many people in this area, particularly to the natives of this city along with actor Wendell Pierce.
Wendall Pierce represents that no non-sense, down home kat that we are familiar with in Nawlins. Pierce is simply DA BOMB!!!
Steve Zahn, captures that cool, white boy flavor that is familiar to Nawlins. I really like the work that he is doing on the show.
It is the little wordings and lingo, that makes this show authentic. For instance, I think that the Mississippi River Bridge was renamed into something else, when I was in jr.high but I and many natives still call it the Mississippi River Bridge! I don't even know what the new & proper name for that bridge is supposed to be!
Natives still say Congo Square, but I think that it is now renamed something else but to us it will always be Congo Square. Congo Square is too important to Nawlins history, to have idiotic officials trying to rename it and everything else! So, the words in the script are ringing true thus far.
A personal word from a native:
There is the generic New Orleans, which the newly arrived people know and what the local media paints about the city, as being great, but the authentic Nawlins is only held by the natives and those who have been here long enough to know it!
The generic New Orleans, is the one where imported people have ushered in their bad attitudes, divisiveness and looking down on the city, which they chose to move to. For the most part, these are the people that do not respect New Orleans but want to make it over into what ever hick town they came in from within the U.S.
The authentic Nawlins, is one of music, family (even people of different races arestillrelated), culture, an inner knowing and respect for the cities traditions.
No one was EVER asking for a hand-out in Nawlins, which is what the national media was floating out to the general public but instead people were fighting an infernal of corruption, by the local, state and Federal government that did everything in their dam power to destroy this city and its people!
Now there used to be those people, that moved here because they just loved the culture, people and city. I knew one Greek guy from Philadelphia that wanted to know about Louisiana Voodoo. After some begging, I taught him things that I had learned at the age 10! I told him things that you simply can not find in a book. I am an authentic Louisianian through and through but unfortunately people now have suspicion about anyone and everything. We don't know if your here because you like the city of New Orleans or are you occupying a home, once belonging to a native family that has been displaced and due to hostile polices, they were not able toreturn?
Right now the main struggle in Nawlins is the fight to maintain our identity/heritage/people and to stop from becoming a generic city, usually coded by the media, when they start talking about the "NEW" New Orleans.
I never imagined that I would be thought of as any type of "activist." Nawlins never had activist! I recall a time, when I worked in the French Quarter at night, and all day I would sit in a small apartment locate in the lower Garden District and play jazz on my trumpet! So, it wasn't the people that changed but the forces in this city has forced people to change. I never imagined that I would have to be so conscience about outside politics affecting this city, certain areas, unjust actions by officials against certain people until after Katrina AKA U.S. Army Corp AKA The Fed. Government struck Nawlins!
I allowed the nefarious policies & plans of the (Fed & Local) government put on New Orleans to make me loose so many parts. I don't even know if I can still read music or hit a high C note! All of this stopped when I had to start spreading an alternative view from the idiotic slandering, placed on Nawlins by people who aren't even from this city! I can not even play my horn because I haven't oiled the valves since Katrina and since I started writing on this so called "NEW" New Orleans in 2006! Everyone lost something of themselves and everyone knows it.
So, I had the most affinity with John Goodman because he spoke on behalf of the natives who refused to sit by and let this mess go down the way that it was planned.

John Goodman, in his opening scene with the British reporter, captured the frustrations, sadness, anger, passions and spirit of the people of Nawlins, in a few short lines. For me, John Goodman represented every emotion that many New Orleans' folks felt about Hurricane Katrina AKA The U.S. Army Corp, flooded this city.
The music was great but my gripe was and is with the casting of this show. I didn't really see the gumbo mix of people that live in New Orleans. Most people know what I mean, who read this blog. Creole actors, were strangely missing and honestly if you removed John Goodman & the music, it may as well have been Selma, Alabama!
Hollywood and even many of the casting people in New Orleans, have always had a tendency to just do the white/black thing but if your going to take on Nawlins, then you better know a little something about our people. The indigenous people of color in Nawlins, are the mixed-race Creoles of Color. I saw some actors who are playing Creoles and Cajuns but they aren't Creole looking in appearance. I didn't see anyone who looked liked a Nawlins Creole even though there are clearly Creole surnames like Batiste & Lambreaux (which is Cajun).
This is always something that I look for, when it comes to t.v. and film projects set in lower Louisiana and in that aspect, the show fails. Not taking anything away from any of the actors because the actors are all phenomenal.
(Mass Murderers for over 50 years in La. state! NO GOVERNMENT AGENCY MAKES THE SAME MISTAKE FOR OVER 50 YEARS! PEOPLE HAVE TO REALIZE THAT THIS IS DELIBERATE GENOCIDE! I am sorry but there is not an accidental engineering disaster for this dam long. At some point it becomes murder!)
Also, the scenes showing people discussing where they would live and wanting to be dropped off just anywhere, as long as it was Nawlins, seemed too non-committed and lack luster. People were worried, confused and stressed that Nawlins would never be their home again and I don't think anyone had a calm and reserved conversation about where to live, after Katrina, with their family members, even though they kept up the image in public.
The main thing off the lips of lower Louisiana natives, was the lack of government response, the screw-ups, the negative media coverage and a general belief that this has been a scheme being hatched for generations.
Where John Goodman was wrong, was that Louisiana state, has a track-record of blowing up levees and flooding out certain areas to supposedly save other areas. I do not know why Levees.Org appears to not know that this was a common practice and appears to still be common practice during Hurricanes.
If your going to say that levees weren't blown, then make sure you don't make a mass statement, because those that lived through Hurricane Betsy in 1965 know this is simply untrue. Also, we had Hurricane Camile in 1969 and everyone knows the policies with the flooding of certain and strategic areas of lower La. This is no secret for anyone around these parts. The citizens demanded an investigation then, and were ignored and they are being ignored by the U.S. Federal Gov. when it comes to investigating Hurricane Katrina. This is nothing new for anyone. This fight has been going on for decades!
In conclusion, I hope to see more native actors that represent the full authentic ethnic groups that has made Nawlins a melting pot for generations and I hope that the casting can be more reflective of Nawlins. I hope that the writing gets more political and comes with a little more passion. For me John Goodman carried the entire first show and I know that he lives, breaths and dies Nawlins, even before Treme and this man captured the pulse of every single person in lower Louisiana.
The displacement of blacks, whites and others in New Orleans is one issue but the way that the local media kept writing these articles on the "NEW" New Orleans was a big gripe to natives of the area and very humiliating. The fact that the New Orleans Time Picayunes/NOLA.Com were being handed a Pulitzer, as they simultaneously deleted on line user accounts, that had information informing natives, on what organizations to access for assistance and online users who were encouraging natives to return, should be addressed. I was even banned from NOLA.Com at one time!
After Katrina, I posted on Nola.com info. about an organization from Pa. state, that was offering supplies to natives trying to return and Nola.com canceled and blocked my user account! So, that's the slick mess that was going on, at least a year, after the U.S. Army Corp flooded out the city of Nawlins.

Nola.com made sure to disrupt the information flow of natives trying to help other natives and it was only recently that the creator/editor of Nola.com has admitted to this disgraceful behavior and Nola.com is the online-wing of the New Orleans Time Picayunes. Yet, they won a fricken Pulitzer! Goes to show you that media is a fake and a fraud and winning a Pulitzer is political!
Natives were not treated with a "welcome back" feeling by the establishment nor the local media! You would call FEMA and they would say over the telephone, that the Government didn't want your family to return, so how can they help you stay dislocated from Nawlins!
If you can have an actor playing someone from the Time Picayunes, which is a paper that many people have come to despise, then you dam sure better have an actor playing a reporter from the New Orleans Gambit!
The entire reason, why I even started the very first real native blog after Katrina, was from people telling me that the national and local media were misrepresenting this and misrepresenting that.
The uniqueness of Treme is that it is centered around the musicians, which is an angle that is brilliant. That way Tremeis not only entertaining but can also give a voice to the natives of this city, in a very creative way. I hope the show is not afraid to show the corruption of government agencies, cops, politicians and of course be brutally honest with the unique culture.
I think that Treme will be one of HBO's longest running shows and there is definitely enough of story-line to keep this show on for a decade, if they are brave enough to touch on the real happenings after Katrina.
(Update 11.20.2010) Steven Segal has been asked by the Sheriff of Jefferson Parish to leave the dept, but due to PR & a fear of bad media/FBI he has not been fired and CNN is reporting that Steven Segal put in an application with an Arizona Sheriff Dept. that polices the border with Mexico.)

(Only 6 months ago, Jefferson Parish Sheriffs just had multiple cops running crime/theft rings in New Orleans! Then to add insult to injury, it was these newly arrived imported cops (on the force less than a 2 years) already taking advantage of the corruption known as Louisiana law enforcement!)

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff Dept. is basically telling the victim, what all law enforcement agencies say in the New Orleans Metro area, which is "Oh well, go to the FBI." Well what the hell is wrong with these idiotic law enforcement agencies, that for decades of having their own cops/deputies committing some of the worse atrocities in the New Orleans Metro area, they still have an inability to police themselves?
Why must the FBI always come in and clean up the dirt of these crime rings run by Jefferson and Orleans Parish? This is exactly why this victim is unwilling to make a statement! This is the same broken record!
The only agency in America that really works and earns their pay IS THE FBI! Every other aspect of the U.S. Government is broken!
( NOLA D.A. Cannizzaro has been doing a great job. I have to give him props, which is rare for me to do with any official in New Orleans area. Orleans Parish has been improving ALOT since Mayor Nagin left office. Mayor Ray Nagin presided over some of the most corrupt cover-ups in the history of this city involving contracts, bed cops and government. The two Top police chiefs, were just horrible under Ray Nagin! The police force became even more criminal than what they already were and that isn't an easy goal to exceed in New Orleans Metro.

Now this Jefferson Parish Sheriff, Newell Normand, started off good but has already fallen into the same, redundant cycles of corruption and cover-ups, as all the rest of em. Since he became Sheriff of J.P., the rates of rapes and sex slavery has skyrocketed. Much of it has to do with the shady contractors bringing in illegal aliens for cheap labor but he not only encourages crime but sends it on down into Plaquemines Parish, which now has a headache due to Jefferson Parish!
Not really too much can be done to have a livable & crime free Orleans and Plauqmines because unfortunately THEY ARE CONNECTED TO JEFFERSON PARISH! Jefferson Parish has been re-drawn and re-districted in such an absurd and ridiculous manner, that crime will never end in these parts.

A&E Network is basically a bunch of Nazis and I am not surprised that they have now decided to use the jailing of blacks in New Orleans as entertainment. Cops in America, are supposedly paid to do a job, which they are horrible at, but instead these bad cops get to be reality stars, and that is why America has so many bad and corrupt police forces and deputies like the ones in Louisiana state.
To get a show on A&E, it appears that you have to be a racist or a rapist! That's their standards which are basically no standards at all!

Seagal has a track record but because he isn't an NBA athlete (black man) the media ignored it!
Actress,Comic & Talk Show Host, Jenny Mccartney, had issues with Steven Seagal causing her to fear this man. She was only one of about 19 women back in the 80's & 90's! And of course he would end up in Louisiana, with a job in the New Orleans Metro area working as a cop! This is to be expected from this area. Like I said, Seagal already had a track record and this shows that any rapist, drug trafficker and criminal can get a job working in Jefferson and Orleans Parish as a so called "law enforcement agent!"

Daniel Scanlan, Officers Gregory Lapin, Steven Keller, Julio Alonzo, Larissa Austin, Regina Barr, Colette Booth, and Marcellus White are still around Nawlins doing crimes and its not being reported by the local media. These NOPD officers currently run a Cop Crime Ring in Nawlins!

For years, I have been speaking on the way that former Top Cop in New Orleans, Eddie Campos, got on national t.v. during Katrina and drove a mini-genocide in Nawlins. Yet Steven Seagal and Eddie Campos are best buddies! So, I am not surprised that Seagal was corrupt/rapist and A&E should be boycotted in either case!

This is what the Internal Affairs Dept has been doing for decades in New Orleans Metro. If a citizen saw a law enforcement agent breaking the law & reported it to the department, they would give the information of the citizen to the cop who you complained about and then the cop or deputy would come and kill you! This is what triggered the FBI to basically act as the law enforcement for this entire area. I was 19 years old & living in Jefferson Parish, while working in Orleans Parish, when this started and 15 years later-it hasn't gotten any better! They've gotten worse!
So, Steven Seagal was smart in coming to Louisiana state to be a predator and criminal with a badge!
