Is it cool to move back to Nawlins? I think it is. Maybe the native New Orleans Middle Class will make a come back into the city.
By Nicolas Duplessis.
After seeing how N.Y. Mayor Mike Bloomberg ran all the soul out of New York City and turning it into one big city of banks, old white people and illegal aliens, the city that I once loved under Mayor Giuliani was now a skeleton of its old self. I can recall working and saving up all year just to go to New York for three weeks. I loved going up to Washington Heights or East Harlem and getting Dominican Stew, loved watching the N.Y. ethnic dancing at Chelsea Pier, strolling through SoHo at 2 a.m. and keeping to the outskirts of Time Square with the natives. This New York no longer exists. What was once my favorite city is now a city that I can’t stand because it offers nothing in way of culture and soul.
Mayor Giuliani had his social issues but as far as keeping N.Y.C. culturally relevant, he was a master at preserving those historic N.Y. Communities that kept me going to N.Y. every year and dropping $5,000.00. New York is simply an irrelevant city and the culture has been milked dry by billionaire Bloomberg. Would I vote for Giuliani to be President? No. But if he was running for Mayor of N.Y., I would commit election fraud, fly to N.Y. and vote for him about 10000 times!
Los Angeles has a Mayor, Antonio Villaraigrosa, that isn’t even coherent. On top of being an alcoholic due to him, the days of young and aspiring Hollywood types have long since settled in other areas, the over flowing of illegal aliens and over development has given way to graffiti and empty store fronts. The Hollywood Farmers Market is closing because of more development and it has to be one of the more polluted places in the nation. Trust me, there are more chemicals in Ca. state than in Plaquemines Parish, la. Half the time there are chemicals in the water and lots of overhead chemical spraying jets that can leave one with a burning migraine. California is a state that is sinking fast and I am not going down, playing a jazz trumpet with it!
The Mayor of Los Angeles rides around on a bicycle (cuz ya know they think that they are green)...drunk! Then when he gets hit by a car, he spends millions, which the city nor state can afford, being that Ca. has record high deficits, to create bike lanes, so that he can continue to bicycle around....drunk! Insane! If this was Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans, acting the way that some of these Mayors act in L.A. or N.Y. it would be all over cable news and the NY Times.
Under Mitch Landrieu, excluding his inaction during the B.P. Oil spill and the fact that he and lame duck Cao, the retard, were M.I.A. and speaking on behalf of the oil industry instead of the suffering restaurants and tourism industry that pays their salaries in Nawlins-I think the city has some very nice areas to live. What hurt the city of New Orleans was the influx of greedy “house flipping” out of towners, who took advantage of people, bought up ten homes that were priced at under $100,000.00 and then jacked it up to $300,000.00 for years.
These absurd housing rates were on top of a bi-polar corrupt insurance commission, that requires different insurance policies every three years, depending on what Science they can fake & a business tax rate, that is hardly stable. Also they didn’t anticipate that Nawlins is a place people like to visit and then go back home and they were trying to do in Nawlins, what caused the housing mess in California, Arizona and Nevada. Not that I couldn't afford the houses, but New Orleans wasn't worth it. So, now that these idiots are stuck with ten homes & empty lots, which no one is buying due to the laughable rates, on places that amount to ghettos in some cases, the homes prices have gone back to a reasonable market value. Ronal Serpas is great! He is one of the best head cops that I have ever seen.
Buying a $350,000.00 home in Gentilly or Algiers would take an idiot but this is what we saw. Now many of these homes are "under water" or people have upside down mortgages, where the over inflated, falsely appraised home has now fallen in value, back to normal market prices and the fall has been a steep decline of $150,000.00 less.
Stats:
1. New Orleans
Population: 354,850
Population Change 2000-2009: -128,813
Population Percent Change 2000-2009: -26.63%
Home Vacancy: 21.5%
New Orleans is unique in that its presence on this list is not due to industrial decline, but from UN- natural "MAN MADE" disaster. Hurricane Katrina (US ARMY CORP)flooded 80% of the city, caused by some estimates more than $80 billion in damage, and displaced tens of thousands of residents. The period of widespread homelessness, severe crime, and slow recovery has left the city as a shadow of its former self. While people are trickling back into the city, many will likely never return, and the city has lost more than a quarter of its population in just 10 years.
The out of towners, simply all want to live on St. Charles Ave or The French Quarter and that simply isn't possible & if they can't afford to live in these parts, the so called Nawlins Mystique, simply wears off. New Orleans needs their Middle Class natives, like members of my family, to return in order to flesh out places like Gentilly, Bywater, Lower Ninth, parts of Uptown and Algiers.
- No one wants to return and buy a home in the lower ninth because it means every year, a camera crew wants to come into your home and make them into a puppet show. That's not a livable lifestyle for middle class black people, who are private by nature.
Nawlins needs real flesh, soul & blood Nawlins Natives to return. There's no way around the fact, that middle class people of color need to be drawn back to the city but right now they are thriving in other parts of La. State, Texas and even California. I know black people that were worth over one million dollars and where do they live now? Alabama State. I looked them up on facebook and they had already purchased two homes in Alabama. They are not coming back to La. even though they still own plenty of property in the area. The thing is that they weren't gonna do it with Cao in office and really don't want to do it with someone as untrust-worthy and obviously corrupt as Piyush Jindal. No one is gonna take their money and simply throw it at New Orleans, just to be "given it up" for the cause. That's financial suicide. No one in my family, rents a home. Renting is like throwing money into a garbage can & Southern people hate to rent or lease anything.
So, these people that gobbled up homes and made them into rental properties, simply are hurting the city & evidently themselves because no one is renting them. The classified ads in Nawlins Real Estate has 1 billion places for rent, which are all over priced. One may as well have a mortgage to rent at what these people think their properties deserve, which is why they now have 17 mexicans living in them instead of their imagined demographic, after Katrina(Army corp). But the homes that are for sale, are connected to each other, like chain houses, which means every time your neighbor takes a piss, you can hear it in your living room! I mean, one may as well be living in the Fisher Projects!
Like Ca, Arizona and Nevada, many people in New Orleans now have homes that aren't worth nearly what they paid for them in 2006 or 2007. Plus La. State has a corrupt insurance industry along with utility companies that even charged customers "Hurricane Katrina" fees, simply to pocket the money and we see this all the way in places like Monroe, La. In essence, La. had and has a predatory legislative body that preys upon it's own struggling people. No city is that great, to where I will simply hand over money due to being extorted and find myself like every other American, which are now comprised of working-poor, Middle Class status based entirely off of unseen credit that can be wiped out at any time by the government or having to beg the government for a Middle Class tax cut, which only amounts to about an extra $1000 per year!
Middle Class Americans (in visuals only) do not own a car but lease BMW's. They do not own a home but instead get on a 30 year fixed loan (if lucky) and are nothing but glorified renters calling themselves "home owners" and some do not even own a single lick of property to even build a home on, when the bank takes the home, which they supposedly "own." Most Americans have absolutely nothing real in this allegedly "greatest country in the world!" They cling to an IRA/401k which hedge fund managers can make vanish into thin air! And yet they still accept a utility company charging them a fee for "katrina victims" in La. State, knowing that there really is no "katrina victim fund" or paying for flood insurance, in what amounts to corporate/government man-made disasters. Simply scared of corporations and even more scared of holding their elected officials accountable, but instead they collectively lash out at Kenneth Feinberg, a man who has nothing to do with the crap that these people have allowed their state government, to put them into on a repeated basis. It's absurd. At one time La. State blamed former Nawlins Mayor Ray Nagin for all the problems in Louisiana State, while Bush, the state legislature, Chamber of Commerce, incompetent local news media and Piyush Jindal simply sat there all nice and cozy. It's absurd!
- Piyush Jindal and the Chamber of Commerce in La. State, catered to Arab business owners and illegal aliens, which is why La. state looks like a bunch of Arabs owning everything with illegal aliens on every corner. This state did not encourage business ownership among the native Louisianians and in fact, went out of their way to flat out block business ownership among the people of La. Ca. State and N.Y. may have astronomical high tax rates but one can open up anything that they want to open up and make as much money as they want to make but this isn't the case in La. One must be a foreigner from the Middle East, according to that state's Chamber of Commerce but no one talks about this because New Orleans, La was getting blamed for everything. Gov Piyush Jindal screwed up La. beyond repair but Mitch Landrieu is doing a good job at building up a much needed wall between New Orleans and Orleans Parish, from the rest of Louisiana's dysfunction.
Also getting the media out of the city and the Time Warner-CNN people, who were tryting to smear Nawlins for years, helps alot. No one wants to live in a constant media storm and see every single resident, having to act like a performer. People want peace in their lives and New Orleans was offering everything but peace.
When I compare Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans to others that I am familiar with, he is one of the best Mayors in America. Mitch Landrieu is one of the few American Mayors that knows how to run a city.
I think that Mitch Landrieu got the police force cleaned up, the illegal alien population should be enough to keep anyone out of Jefferson Parish, which looks like a dump but New Orleans has made a comeback.
With the great work of Mayor Mitch Landrieu, I am back in the market for a home in New Orleans, La. I just will not tolerate illegal aliens hanging around on the corners and already I have excluded many areas, due to this being a concern of mine. I refuse to live in New Orleans if it looks like a border town in Texas! I simply do not want one dime in taxes going on illegal aliens or their kids. I simply will stay incorporated out of state.
I was also not going to be seriously moving back to Nawlins with Congressman Cao because La. State has too many people that were working for corporations and industries. A Mayor or Congressman can seriously kill a city & Cao was killing New Orleans like Jindal is killing La. State.
