Placée's Caribbean-style house in the French Quarter made famous by George Washington Cable's short story, "Madame John's Legacy." These homes were owned up and down the French Quarter, Bywater, Marigny by Creoles of Color. The East-side of Canal St.(which divided the French from the newly arrived Anglos) where these historical neighborhoods still stand today-were built by Creoles of Color from the ground up. This is why they have Creole-Carribean designs. State guides, media and realtor sites have a mind-set to tell people that Bienville built all of this with his own bare hands! Bienville marched in and whoa-la! there was a city!(Laughable)These people know that they are attempting to rewrite the history of this city and mislead the public.
